What is Fretwork?
This type of woodwork primarily involves sawing many inside openings to create ornamental or grill like objects. Basic fretwork techniques and recognizable special tools can be traced back to the early 1700's and have not changed much since then. Fretwork overlays have been found in Egyptian tombs from 3000 years ago. Fretwork designs were often incorporated into the furniture designs of Duncan Phyfe, Thomas Chippendale, and others.
The possibilities are tremendous!
The variety and uniqueness of items that we can create are endless. Our shop only indicates a small number of the projects we have done. If you have an idea for something that is not displayed in the shop, please contact us. We would be happy to work with you on that special project that you would like.
